Since Zoe and Aaron attended the same church, they became friends through their youth group activities. It wasn't until eighth grade that they developed a close friendship and then high school when they realized they had feelings for each other. Aaron asked Zoe to their freshman winter dance with a white rose, but Zoe wasn't ready for a relationship. Once they graduated, Zoe felt isolated with a move to Tennessee for college. Aaron became a friend for her when she returned home for winter break and their friendship continued to grow through COVID. After they both worked a camp post COVID, Zoe realized she had feelings for Aaron, and they started dating. On one of their weekend adventures, Aaron proposed on bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan!
Though Aaron spent a lot of time carefully curating a ring for Zoe, he did know what she wanted in an engagement ring. "The diamond is what I love most about it because it’s what he spent the longest time deciding on," Zoe gushes. "It’s a natural diamond which I love that it came from ground, but what is special about it is that is a very long oval which makes it look bigger and the skinnier look looks so elegant on my finger." We love that it would look good whether Zoe was wearing an elegant gown or something as simple as her favorite jeans, like she did for this engagement session!
Zoe and Aaron had a unique experience when finding their engagement session photographer. "Heather posted on her Instagram story about a model call, and we thought it would be fun to do a whole creative session giving the photographer full creative control. We were excited to be surprised with what she came up with," Zoe shares. They left everything but their outfits up to their photographer and ended up with a breathtaking engagement session!
When it came to planning, Zoe had a pretty good vision for what she wanted for her wedding but had to differentiate between wants and admirations. Pinterest helped her focus her thoughts and got Zoe on a roll! Zoe explains, "I am a very organized, type A person by nature. I made sure to give myself time to enjoy the engagement for about two weeks before I dove into the process. I was able to plan our wedding in six months, leaving me the rest of spring and summer to just enjoy this season we are in." She's had so much fun planning the wedding that Zoe's even considered becoming a wedding planner!
