While Amy and Adam went to the same high school, they never actually met while attending. Adam was four years older and their paths did cross within those halls, however, years later they would meet by total chance. Amy says, “One of my best friends invited me to a party and I agreed to go, but the night of I really wanted to back out. The only reason I didn’t was because I was her ride after work that night. One of Adam’s best friends was the host of the party, and he had to beg Adam for days beforehand to go. So we both owe our meeting to these friends - if they wouldn’t have gotten us out of the house that night, who knows if we ever would have met!”

After that chance meeting, Adam decided to propose four years later. The couple was visiting New York City and Adam knew it was the right time and the perfect place. Amy says, “He proposed at our hotel's fancy rooftop bar, while we were outside by ourselves just looking at all the lights. It was so intimate despite being in the middle of Time Square - it was perfect!”

After a magical proposal, the couple started planning their dream day. They knew that their budget was their top priority. They decided to plan a wedding for two years out so that they could check off everything on their wishlist. Amy adds, “The first thing we did was find a venue that fit our budget and vision, then we picked our date once we had the venue.” The couple then picked their photographer, Ashley, of Smitten Mitten Photography who gorgeously captured their big day!

Amy’s dress was truly a dream come true. She knew that she wanted to wear a dress with lace sleeves. She says, “I found my dress on my very first shopping trip, which was the Maya Gown by Morilee. The only thing it was missing, in my opinion, was some sparkle, which is why I added a belt that was also designed by Morilee.” It was the perfect gown and was a romantic match for Adam’s navy suit. Amy remarks, “Adam was set on having a navy tuxedo, and we opted for burgundy vests and ties to pull the look together and match the bridal party.”

What we love

Amy and Adam have a Pomeranian, Todd, who is their fur baby. Unfortunately, they could not have him at the wedding but they knew they still wanted to have him incorporated in some way. Amy says, “Our cake topper featured a Pomeranian on it and we also had a cardboard cutout of his face made to be used as a prop in the photo booth, which was a huge hit!”

Advice from the bride

Amy says, “It’s all worth it in the end! Wedding planning can be stressful and expensive. We found ourselves second-guessing our plan a lot, and wondering if we should have just gone to the courthouse. We are so glad we stuck it out and did what we truly wanted because our wedding day was the best, most magical day of our entire lives to date.”
