After both deciding to attend Gannon University, Lauren and Nick met through playing sports and making friends on various athletic teams. Under the guise of meeting Nick's California family for dinner at a rooftop restaurant in Nashville, Nick took the opportunity to propose to Lauren. "We walked into our reservation and he had the table set with photos of us, candles and flowers, and he got down on one knee right there! He was able to plan it so some of my family and my best friend were there as well which was a very thoughtful touch," Lauren recalls.

Lauren gave Nick some inspiration for the ring through Pinterest pins she had saved for the future. Nick ended up getting a rose gold band with an oval cut diamond (which is exactly what Lauren wanted!) and also added in some personal touches. "Nick chose some round cut diamonds to embellish the band. It is so stunning!" Lauren gushes. "The fact that he put the thought and effort into creating something of his own makes it so special."

Their photographer Marisa was super helpful to Nick and Lauren by offering all types of guidance to prepared them for the shoot. She helped them pick the location for their engagement session. Lauren shares, "I knew I wanted to show off the beautiful fall foliage in northeastern Ohio in our photos and she gave a few recommendations! We lucked out that it was 'peak week' for the fall colors on the date that we set for the shoot." Marisa also sent them a pamphlet before their engagement session that helped them decide on neutral toned outfits and gave advice for accessorizing their attire.

As far as wedding planning goes, Lauren and Nick are feeling less stressed as they go about it. "I sort of knew what I wanted—light and airy, lots of greenery, pretty outdoor space to showcase the Ohio countryside and all of our favorite people in one place," Lauren explains. "Once we were talking about marriage more seriously though and the timing started to feel right, I began to look up venues and make a list." The couple was able to book their dream venue a few weeks after getting engaged! Things have been falling into place ever since. With things booked up, they are feeling the ease and calmness of wedding planning together!
