This Organic Petoskey Michigan Style Shoot Has a Charming Bohemian Flair

The idea for this style shoot hit Lisa of Lisa McCoy Photography when she found the dress. With antique lace and a flowy style, Lisa knew she wanted to build an entire style shoot around an alternative bride. “I couldn’t have asked for a better dress to use,” she says. “It fit the classy boho style so well.”

 

Lisa notes that she wanted to touch on a few popular wedding trends, such as incorporating the color gold and dried grasses into the floral arrangements. Still, this shoot has a few boho features that were simply one-of-a-kind, like that custom geometric ceremony arch!  

 

Originally, the venue for this shoot was going to be a vineyard, but the team had to relocate due to bad weather. Despite this change in plans, Lisa couldn’t be happier at the park that they ended up shooting at. “The Bear River area is so gorgeous, and under the bridge offers an industrial feel that a lot of venues in the area just don’t have,” she notes. “It has the river running right through it and beautiful wooded trails. Plus, Lake Michigan is right across the street. The venue really fit well and helped give the shoot the classy boho feeling.”

 

The deep maroon tone of the groom’s attire reflected the team’s desire to keep rich, fall colors throughout the shoot. We love the bride’s soft, romantic waves of hair, perfectly topped off with that fern crown!

 

The cake used in this shoot was hand-painted to add a special, heartfelt touch into the design. And those red-velvet macaroons look good enough to eat!
