When Mel Anne Photography came up with the sweetest idea to highlight that "something blue" of the infamous wedding rhyme "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence in your shoe." - she knew that she wanted to feature it in a bold way that would connect modern style with traditional charm. She adds, "I wanted to have lots of pops of color and deep hues, while still staying classy and clean."
The Roostertail was the ideal venue to make this vision come to life, with large, glass windows overlooking the Detroit River. Mel says, "I met with Nicole the Event Coordinator at The Roostertail and I just had to work with her! She was so helpful and excited about what we were planning and just, in general, a genuine person."
This styled shoot is full of fun surprises like a plant bar, officially titled a "Barista Plant Bar Favor Station" by this team (awe, are you not in love?). This interactive bar would let wedding guests make their very own potted plants with their chosen soil and florals. Mel says, "We definitely collectively agreed that plants are a big trend that is rising in the wedding world and the florist wanted to display a slightly wilder look to the bouquet." The lush bouquet is a masterpiece of its own and demonstrates that organic edge many brides are seeking.
This gown for this shoot is truly exceptional. Mel says, "The planner, Brittney, found international couture fashion designer Katerina Bocci via Instagram. She reached out to her and they quickly developed a relationship. When we finally sat down with Katerina, she literally hand-designed a gown for us right in front of our eyes!" This was truly a one-of-a-kind gown and it is everything you could want and more.
