Venue
Dreaming of an outdoor ceremony but afraid to commit? Event planners from the Eiteljorg Museum share three planning tips for any outdoor affair.
HAVE A PLAN B
Unpredictable weather is the greatest deterrent to outdoor wedding plans. As useful as your local weather station may be, it cannot guarantee a perfect 75 degree, partly cloudy wedding day. Every couple planning to celebrate outdoors should be equipped with an equally stunning back up plan. For all outdoor events at the Eiteljorg, a plan A and B is prepared and the weather call is made by 12 pm the day of the wedding. Ask your venue if they offer a similar service. You will feel comfortable knowing what to expect if there are any changes.
KNOW YOUR COMPETITION
Planning your wedding for a Saturday? As you are toasting to the next chapter of your life, there may be others raising a glass at the Indiana Wine Festival or rocking out at the Rib America Festival nearby. Wherever you’re getting married, your venue’s event manager should be knowledgeable of the events taking place in the area that day. It’s best to avoid choosing a date where noise and parking issues could cause headaches.
BE FLEXIBLE
This is you & your fiancé’s special day. You want it to be unforgettable, in a good way. Let your guests know you’ll be outdoors so they can dress accordingly, but if the weather takes a turn for the worse, think of how much more you and your guests will enjoy the ceremony dry, indoors rather than sopping wet, outdoors. Whether your “I do’s” takes place in the open air or in a grand hall, you’ll look your best knowing you’ve got a professional staff at the ready.
