Thomas Caterers of Distinction is at it again. The award-winning catering company has acquired yet another venue, just a year after purchasing CANAL 337. The Black Iris Estate, formerly known as The Oak Hill Mansion, is a charming, southern-style mansion that will offer a distinct venue to the northern side of Indianapolis. Thomas Caterers also runs D'Amore, CANAL 337 and The Scottish Rite Cathedral in addition to its nationally acclaimed catering company.
The Black Iris Estate rounds out the group of Thomas Caterers venues with its southern vintage style as the other venues feature modern, rustic and historic styles. The front of The Black Iris Estate was built in 1941 and served as a residential home on River Road until it was re-located to its current location in the early 90s. At that point, the ballroom portion of the venue was added on and it began operating as an event venue. It has now been hosting weddings and events for over two decades.
The grounds are available for both indoor and outdoor ceremony and receptions. Outside, the venue offers seclusion and stunning views of the wooded estate. It also features a tented deck with custom-built farm tables for wedding reception. Indoors, The Black Iris Estate offers numerous rooms for the cocktail hour and bride and groom suites for the wedding party. For the reception, an open concept ballroom offers couples a large space filled with grand chandeliers, intricately adorned ceiling medallions and tiles, programmable lighting features and panoramic views of the estate grounds.
The Black Iris Estate kicked off wedding season with its first wedding April 23. While it's booking quickly for both the 2016 and 2017 seasons, dates are still available!
