Urban Vibes: A Modern Vision in Downtown Chicago

The Vision

One of the best parts of our job is dreaming up the next cover. It’s like being a bride-to-be over and over again. For this shoot, we craved something urban, fresh and modern. We imagined moody, bold vibes and a big city backdrop. While the “Windy City” is famous for many things, its skyline is certainly one of them. And as one of the most iconic and world-class locales, we knew this Midwest gem was the perfect place for our skyline scenes. Thanks to the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Chicago, Unveiled Weddings and Events, photographer Kristen Mittlestedt and our entire talented team, our vision reached new heights. Prepare yourselves for some modern, urban elegance and simply spectacular views.

The Venue

Anyone familiar with Chicago knows how alluring the River North neighborhood is—especially from a rooftop. The Kimpton Hotel Palomar Chicago isn’t only nestled within this prime downtown location, it offers a sleek style, impressive amenities and an authentically urban feel you won’t get anywhere else. From gorgeous skyline views to sophisticated guest rooms and suites, this boutique luxury hotel is both exquisitely personal and memorable. Being wowed from the moment we stepped foot in the door, selecting the Palomar was an easy choice for our urban dream.

The DÉcor

Michelle Nikitaras, Unveiled Weddings and Events Owner and Lead Event Planner says, “We wanted to showcase a moody, modern, couture theme so we went with darker colors to bring this to life.” Using a patterned linen in gray, black and white hues and details like gold plates and deep burgundy napkins, the inviting décor was both modern and sophisticated. What made the design pop even more was the magnificent setting. To soften the hard lines within the cityscape, the Unveiled team utilized the power of texture—breathtaking florals and flowing linens.

The Florals

The florals were nothing short of alluring and featured different types of greenery, mini callas, pops of cappuccino roses and sunflowers for deep red and soft pink floral embellishments.

The Look

Our bride wore two stunning Jenny Yoo pieces. The gorgeous, modern gown featured sleek lines and long sleeves while the jumpsuit aligned perfectly with the couture theme. True Beauty by Dana made our modern bride beautifully complete with dark, moody makeup. Elegance by Kim added the finishing touch with a vogue-styled ponytail. The groom mirrored the bride’s modern style with a handsome Groomsman Suit ensemble featuring a modern silhouette.

The Details

The stationery, designed by EJD Design, mirrored both the color palette and the venue’s sleek aesthetic. The mod, sophisticated look continued with a stunning, black Designer Desserts cake.
