Steven and Rachel met through mutual friends. Steven took Rachel to the Planetarium in Chicago and later, proposed by the lake. Their families were waiting nearby on a trolley to celebrate with the couple afterwards. Two months thereafter, Rachel's sister initiated an "intervention" with Rachel in order to get a move on the wedding planning! After her sister's motivational speech, Rachel got organized with The Knot, a wedding coordinator and a multiple-tab spreadsheet.
The couple chose the month of November for their big day, but the venue they selected allowed them to have the best of every season. The decor reflected a fall/winter wedding, but the venue was full of plant life, which Rachel loved as she is a botanical enthusiast! The Planterra Conservatory was the perfect venue to bring the outdoor feel inside without having to worry about the weather.
Rachel chose deep reds, hints of pink and lots of gold for her decor bringing warmth to the reception, but also reflecting the season. Much of this was accomplished through the floral aspect with centerpieces that included an array of queen proteas, Gerbera daisies, roses, ranunculus, amaranthus, seeded and silver dollar eucalyptus and garden roses.
Rachel's gown was the "Delilah" dress from designer Sarah Janks. "I loved the details!" says Rachel. "It was so comfortable, just a silk slip dress underneath the beautiful tulle and sequin overlay."
