Violet, of Violet Short Photography, had an idea for a very royal style shoot. This was no easy undertaking, as finding a place to shoot such a romantic and regal idea seemed impossible. But, with the famous line “let them eat cake” in mind, Violet soon knew exactly where to go. She says, “Our vision was over-the-top feminine elegance with a Marie Antoinette-inspired look.” The perfect place to fulfill this vision? The Cake Bake Shop of Indianapolis, of course! Being a quaint yet remarkably imposing shop, Cake Bake had the exact look—and the cakes—the team wanted!
Violet calls the style of their shoot “Parisian Bridal.” And sure enough, the shoot accomplished that look to a “tea" (pun completely intended). The design was nothing short of elegant. The hair and makeup focused in on the 18th century beauty of Marie Antoinette, and the model looked like she was fit for royal court by the time the beauty team was done with her! Violet says, “Megan, our phenomenal makeup artist, put together this soft, feminine look with a brightly-hued lip, highlighted cheeks and a subtle sparkle over the eyes.”
As for the regal gown...well, Violet knew they found the perfect one when she saw it at Nancy’s Bridal, and her heart skipped a beat. She says, “We wanted something elegant but whimsical and maybe with color. This two-piece pink, corseted ensemble fit our model like a glove and truly made us drool the moment we saw it hanging on the rack at Nancy's Bridal.” The pink gown was, let’s say, the icing on the cake! Its faint hue was the dash of color needed to transform the model into a true princess.
When it came to the floral, Bokay Florist knew just what kind of flowers a queen would want. Violet says, “We requested soft pastels to align with the backdrop and her pink-hued gown. Bokay was happy to oblige, and we left the flower choices in their hands. They, of course, did not disappoint with either the perfect bouquet or the stunning feathered headpiece.” The headpiece was a nice nod to 18th century style and enhanced the feel of the shoot.
