A Grunge Meets Glam Style Shoot

When Brittney Romeo of 430Studios and 1928 Planning Co. collaborated, it was an all-out, gorgeous grunge meets glam result. Using darker tones, raw materials and a touch of sparkle, their vision came to life.  

 

The Pickle Factory in Benton Harbor’s art district was ultimately the space they decided on because it could offer the intimate yet unfinished blank canvas they were looking for. As an old automotive repair shop, the venue is divided into three spaces featuring lovely, original painted glass windows and ample concrete.

 

Wanting to feature a dress as glam as the shoot, Brittney sought something less traditional with metal looking aspects and a sheer quality to showcase the bride’s tattoos. An unrefined, full and "teased out" look complemented with braids completing the non-traditional look. The bride's makeup featured burgundies and blacks.

 

Marco Alexzondra worked his floral magic, adding deep tones and lots of texture. The hues reflected the fall season while black, along with a mix of raw materials, added a bit of grunge.

​The beautiful seat cards placed on black stones were designed by Hannah from A Foraged Affair.

Brittney says, “The cake table was an assortment of three cakes. We wanted to stick to the color palette so we did a dark, dark navy cake along with a purple marble cake and a drink cake. All the cakes had either a floral accent or ‘metal’ accent to tie in the elements within the space and tablescape...The entire display was actually put on top of an old metal work table.”
