Justin and Kerin met in college where they both worked the same desk job. Kerin and Justin quickly became friends. Kerin says, “Being in the same department, we spent a lot of time together and quickly became friends. Friends turned into flirting and then quickly into a first date. I tried very hard at first to resist falling for Justin because I wasn’t thrilled with the idea of dating someone I worked with, but his charm quickly changed my mind. By the second date, he was already meeting my parents!”
Justin proposed to Kerin in their home. True to who they are as a couple, the proposal was simple and uncomplicated. Kerin adds, “I came home from work to find Justin already home with a fresh bouquet of flowers sitting on the table by the front door. When our dog came running to greet me, she had a t-shirt on, which for our dog is a pretty strange site to see! I picked her up to investigate and found that her chest read ‘Will you marry my dad?’”. Kerin turned around to find Justin down on one knee. It was the sweetest, most authentic way he could have proposed.
“Months prior to our engagement, I told Justin that I had found a ring designer, Heidi Gibson, that I absolutely loved,” says Kerin. “I told him that there was not a single ring made by her that I wouldn’t absolutely love and then left the rest to him!” Luckily, Justin took the hint and went to that designer to get Kerin the ring she loved.
Kerin knew one thing for sure after she got engaged — that her photographer was going to be the most important vendor for her big day. She remarks, “People always say that the two things people remember most at a wedding are the food and the drinks, and for the guests, I believe that to be true. But for me as a bride, I know the thing I will remember most is the photographs because they are what will remain long after the memories have faded away.” With that in mind, Kerin started searching for the best photographer she could find. She found Jesse Speelman Photography and knew he had to be their photographer. His style was everything Kerin and Justin were looking for and more!
