We’re jamming out with this submission to our 2019 Style Shoot Design Contest! Shayne of Shayne Culp Photography envisioned this wedding to be that of an alternative bride. She explains, “It’s for a bride that is rough around the edges but still enjoys touches of femininity, a strong rocker chick with an old soul.” Shayne combined edgy décor, moody photography and the Pantone Color of the Year, Living Coral, to create a rock and roll wedding that is sure to be remembered!

These centerpieces hold a drama all their own! They were handcrafted by Shayne herself with wholesale flowers and geometric containers provided by AAYS Event Rentals. The décor ties well into the venue, which was chosen because of the exposed brick, original hardwood floors, large windows and industrial lighting. “Adding edgy décor to the very classic space allowed me to display how a fun rocker couple can also be sophisticated and glamorous,” Shayne notes.

One of the hardest challenges Shayne faced was finding a dress that matched the off white color palette. Originally, she wanted something black or dark gray, but the style wasn’t available locally. She took into account her model’s body and personality to find the perfect fit. “The lace reminded me of the old world aspects of The Grand LV and the shape with the non-traditional color palette reminded me of the modern bride I had in mind,” she explains. We love the use of wooden flowers in the bouquet and boutonniere! Shayne notes, “I think wooden flowers are an awesome alternative to real flowers that a bride could have forever.”

The bride’s makeup was based on the Game of Thrones character Denarius Targaryen because Shayne believes that Denarius is a great example of beauty and strength. The flowers add a perfect touch of romance in that half-up, half-down hairdo!

The team wanted a color palette that was edgy, yet still feminine. By layering touches of coral into the black, gray, gold and copper colors, they brought some glam to this hard rock style. “It was important to me that the color palette kept in theme with the fun rocker chick with an old soul that it was designed for,” Shayne notes.

The team wanted the dessert to be a quirky alternative to cake, so they chose edible cookie dough. Because who doesn’t want to eat cookie dough at their wedding?

Another tie in to this rock and roll theme is the bride’s leather jacket. “The words ‘Married AF’ gave the bride the perfect amount of rocker chick attitude,” Shayne explains.
