Even though they met while living in Los Angeles, Alyssa and Brandon both grew up in the Kentucky/Indiana area. They were able to bond over similar life stories and shared interests. "The proposal was a complete surprise! We were meeting my family for a vacation in South Carolina (Edisto Island) and everyone was in on it!" Alyssa shares. After driving more than seven hours to meet her family, Alyssa's mom suggested stopping at a Driftwood Beach, which was near the hotel, to watch the sunset. Brandon took this perfect opportunity to propose!
"I had gone back and forth for almost a whole six months on what I wanted in a ring, and found this unique design done with an aquamarine stone," Alyssa raves. "I love it because it is a traditional solitaire diamond, while also being modern, fresh, and unique! You don’t immediately look at it and think engagement ring." Brandon actually got the ring custom-made by a designer in Los Angeles. We think her ring is totally unique and looks dazzling!
Since the engagement session was a total surprise to Alyssa, the engagement photographer was found by her fiancé, Brandon. He was able to scour the Internet to find a photographer in the area within 48 hours of them arriving. Alyssa also wasn't able to choose her outfit and ended up being photographed in her travel wear. We think she looks so beautiful, especially since she can't stop smiling!
Alyssa already has an idea of what she expects out of her wedding. She explains, "I have a general idea of what we want, but those ideas are still developing as we get into planning! We want something small and simple back home in Kentucky with close friends and family!" Since they have not yet picked a venue or date, the happy couple still feels they have plenty of time to figure things out.
