When Tristyn decided to lead a mission trip for her college, she didn't know she would be meeting her future husband on the trip! Daniel signed up to go, and the two got to know each other better when they got to Brazil. Daniel proposed to Tristyn on a visit to Florida to see her family. After laying out all of the things she needed to get around, he asked her to stay in her bedroom until he said as he turned the backyard into a dinner date of Tristyn's dreams!

"Planning a wedding is so hard," Tristyn admits. "I tried to tackle one thing at a time and spent the most time, money and energy on the aspects of the wedding that I cared about the most." Tristyn did have an idea of what she wanted before she started planning, but once she did, she learned she was opening a can of worms. Pinterest and Instagram helped her narrow her search and realize what she really wanted and a planning guide from her grandmother helped her stay on track and budget. The wedding Tristyn and Daniel created represented them and their love!

The first vendor the happy couple booked was Elisha Kaladhl Photography since Tristyn's mom knew her from CrossFit classes. It was a stroke of luck that led Tristyn to many of her other vendors. "A cool thing that happened to me during my planning process was I entered a giveaway on Instagram that a wedding planner was hosting with local vendors in Indianapolis and I WON!" Tristyn explains. "I used more than half of my vendors from that giveaway."

Tristyn decided to go the non-traditional route with her wedding attire. She chose to wear two dresses during her big day and ordered both from international designers on Etsy. Because of this, she was able to have a special moment with her great aunt. "Both had to be taken in which ended up being a special experience for me because my great aunt agreed to tailor them for me," Tristyn gushes. "She taught me how to sew. Having her tailor my dresses was sentimental!" And we think she looks stunning in both of her gowns!

What We Love

Finding and creating the décor for the wedding was a family affair! "My family and I also did most of the decorations ourselves too. We would pick random stuff up that we thought would look good and we ended up creating a beautiful wedding. I could not have done it without my
mom and my grandma," Tristyn raves.

Advice from the Couple

Tristyn advises, "Start as early as possible and plan a wedding that is for you. Don’t try to please your family or his family. There are too many people involved to make everyone happy—this season is about you and your husband. Plan the wedding for the two of you."
