Shillawna of Shillawna Ruffner Photography chose the stunning grounds of The Bauerhaus for her fall inspiration style shoot concept. Her goal? To capture all of the natural, outdoor beauty that the fall season has to offer—especially in Southern Indiana. Besides the beautiful scenery, she dreamt up all the alluring elements that make this season so cozy and inspiring, including the mouthwatering comfort food and “elevated, farm-chic ambiance.”
“The grounds of The Bauerhaus are absolutely stunning and we knew we wanted to showcase the gorgeous outdoor fall colors,” she says. “The grounds featured trees, hills and even a pasture with horses! It was perfect for the idea we had of combining down-home comfort with glamorous details.”
The bride wore what any country girl might select. The dress design offered comfort with a touch of glam. A “no-fuss” updo and pretty hair piece completed the look.
“The bouquets, boutonnieres and floral arrangements boasted red roses, deep burgundy Dahlias, Pincushion and Safari Sunset Proteas, fuzzy green Dianthus balls, spiky thistle, and contrasting foliage,” says Shillawna. Besides the colors that complemented the season, pops of bright greens, blues and plaid punched up the palette.
Hand-illustrated stationery seems to be popping up everywhere these days, and this shoot's country glam-inspired stationery did not disappoint.
The delectable desserts featured a three-tiered naked cake, a "make-your-own" candied apple bar, bite-sized tarts, cheese cakes, tortes, and cake pops. “There was even an apple cider cart with unique add-ins like cinnamon sticks and dried apple rings,” says Shillawna.
“The event designer brought in the free standing fireplace and candelabras for the ceremony site, which completed the cozy but chic vibe we wanted to create,” explains Shillawna. “She tied flannel blankets to the chairs for guests to snuggle into if the weather became too brisk. The centerpiece of the reception site was the giant, reclaimed wood farmhouse table which she draped with burlap and red lace runners, candelabras and, of course, the gorgeous, fresh floral arrangements from the florist. The candy apple bar was nestled into a vintage vanity, and the dessert table was actually a repurposed, vintage working desk. She used whiskey barrels as the cake table and a beautiful antique trunk to display the appetizers. The apple cider bar was rolled in on an antique car cart with a darling chalkboard sign.”
