Leah and Chandler had no idea that saying hello to each other during their college writing class would lead to them finding the love of their lives! Wanting to catch Leah by surprise, Chandler proposed during a casual orchard stroll. “We walked through the aisle of ‘Leah apples’ and I saw a perfectly decorated picnic,” Leah says. “He proposed. I cried. It was such a special day!”
Leah made appointments with four different bridal shops, but got to cancel three trips when she found her dream dress on the third try! We love the tulle train with embroidered florals. “It was effortless and I felt so comfortable!” she adds.
When COVID-19 hit, this couple was faced with a whole new planning challenge that knocked out their wedding Plan A. Rolling with a quickly formed Plan B, Leah and Chandler decided to utilize the backyard of Chandler’s childhood home. “We made the very difficult decision to have a family-only wedding,” Leah adds. “It was just eleven of us including parents and siblings. It turned out better than our Plan A! We wouldn’t have changed a thing!” This couple let love win, and Burman Photography beautifully captured their sweet, intimate moments with some gorgeous photos!
What we love
Due to the smaller guest count, this ceremony hit home with plenty of sentiment. Leah explains, “We were able to all share a meal around one table. It made for such an intimate reception with toasts, speeches and first dances. It was special to be able to marry Chandler in his hometown in his backyard where he grew up.”
Advice from the couple
Leah reminds brides planning their weddings not to let your wedding day overshadow your marriage. She notes, “Your wedding is one day. Your marriage is a lifetime. Don’t confuse which one is more important.”
