Caroline had no idea that locking her keys in her car would lead to her finding a true romance! Michael came to her rescue and when the pair began working together at the same company, and their friendship turned into something more. Michael popped the question when the couple was at home, in their kitchen. We love a good at home proposal!

Caroline’s hunt for her dress spanned a few weeks. She knew she didn’t want to settle for something that wasn’t genuine to her. “It was actually better that I went to so many shops as I initially had no set idea of what I wanted in a dress, but learned what I liked and what I didn’t like,” she adds. “As soon as I walked out of the dressing room with the one that ended up being my dress, my eyes started watering. I knew that this was 'the one'!”

After booking their ceremony for late March, the couple had to change plans for their celebration due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Caroline explains, “It was devastating to us that a day that we had planned for over a year and a half was taken away so quickly. But with the love, support and positivity of our parents, family and friends, we were able to pull off a small, intimate ceremony and reception with our loved ones from the comfort of our own home. It was a day that we will never ever forget and we will cherish it for the rest of our lives!”

The couple plans to have a larger gathering in November to celebrate their first few months of marriage.

What we love

This pair has a ton of puppy love! Caroline and Michael included their beloved Goldendoodle, Ruby, as a large part of the celebration. Caroline says, “I found a Christmas ornament that looked just like her for our cake topper, she was our signature cocktail (called “Ruby on the Rocks”) and she had a matching hunter green collar and bow tie as the bridesmaids' dresses, along with a custom dog tag with our wedding date and 'Doodle of Honor' engraved.”

Advice from the couple

According to Caroline, having a long engagement helped her deal with the stress and pressure of planning. “It was nice to plan a wedding a year and a half in advance so that we were able to secure the vendors we wanted from the get-go. As someone who suffers from anxiety, it helped to have the mindset that not everything will be perfect, not everything will go exactly as planned and to anticipate and embrace the unknown. I think that this mindset allowed me to stay so calm, rational and smart about having to postpone our wedding celebrations amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.”
