Learn to Dance in the Rain with this Intimate and Elegant Lafayette Ceremony: The Real Wedding of Cheyenne and Cody Hutsell

Photos ByVictoria Rayburn Photography

Despite Cody's determination, Cheyenne wanted to stay friends with him and turned down any date ideas for two years. After Cheyenne bought a house and was waiting to move in, she stayed with Cody, who convinced her to sell her house and keep living with him. Cody proposed during Easter by writing, "Will you marry me?" on an egg for Cheyenne to find.

Dress hunting did not go the way Cheyenne thought it would. Despite trying on multiple styles that she thought she would like, Cheyenne had yet to find one that made her feel how she expected her wedding dress to make her feel. "Then I tried on a strapless dress, which I didn’t want. I looked at myself. I started to cry!" Cheyenne gushes. "When the ladies asked what I felt, I told them how confused I was. This was what I thought I DIDN’T want. Now, here I am crying because I feel like this is 'the one'!"

All of Cheyenne and Cody's vendors helped make this day a success. The venue came first, then Cheyenne began looking for other vendors. Luckily, their photographer has a list of preferred vendors on her website, and it helped Cheyenne find some that were perfect for her big day. "I gave a lot of faith into Jaqueline the wedding coordinator from the Fowler house and Sarah from Rubia Flower Market. Sarah actually got married at the Fowler House, so I felt like she knew what exactly she was dealing with," Cheyenne raves.

What we love

Instead of opting for one simple dessert, Cody and Cheyenne decided to have a dessert bar to please all of their guests' fancies. From oatmeal cream pies to macarons and vegan snickerdoodle cupcakes, the Hutsell wedding had a dessert for everyone! The stationery from East to West Studio is also so elegant and stunning; a perfect fit for this wedding!

Advice from the couple

"Breathe. Get a photographer that you like, you’re going to spend the WHOLE day with them. Get a photographer with a second shooter. No, 9 am is NOT too early to start your makeup for a 4:30 wedding. Did I mention to breathe? Do the things you want to do. I went in without
expectations and it just made the day so much more joyful," Cheyenne advises. "Relax. The day is supposed to be about you becoming one with your significant other! I know you care about what you look like but just be yourself. Remember everyone is there FOR YOU. Treat them well. Treat them with respect. Have gratitude towards your day."
