Danielle of Danielle Harris Photography met up with her friend, Jacqueline, at Blue Blossom Rentals, and an idea hit them. They knew just who they could go to in order to bring the vision to life, Lauren Williamson of Every Little Thing Events. Lauren says, “We wanted to plan a styled shoot together that would highlight her beautiful flower wall. The flower wall itself is mostly white and ivory with some pops of blush so it would work well with a variety of looks. I have always loved the color coral and since it is the color of the year, it seemed like the perfect time to play it up in this shoot.” After deciding that they wanted to create a shoot around this floral wall, they knew that they wanted to focus on making the shoot mimic the light, feminine vibe of the florals.
“I wanted it to be light and bright with pops of coral and that was truly the start of the vision,” says Lauren. “A color like coral can feel very bright and overwhelming to use and I wanted to showcase how to lighten it up and create balance in the design.” The bold, coral colors were perfect for the shoot and met the elegant theme with a dreamy design.
The team ended up using real and silk flowers. Lauren notes, “Another goal of the shoot was to show how real flowers can complement these two rental pieces. Many florists wanted their flowers to be the only flowers highlighted in the shoot, so we did have a hard time finding a florist that was on board for the collaboration of real and silk flowers.” The florals ended up not only being the most eye-catching element of the shoot, but they showed off the diversity of floral design.
When it came to picking a location for the shoot, the team knew they wanted a timeless venue with a regal feel. Lauren says, “When I thought of elegance, The Omni was one of the first venues that came to mind. Tara at the Omni is wonderful and I knew she would be great to work with on the shoot.”
In order to create a bridal look that matched the graceful design, they wanted to capture several looks so they used three dresses. “Adrienne from The Wedding Studio brought three dresses that fit with the elegant theme we were going for,” says Lauren. “The other two dresses were more fitted with more lace and beading details. I liked that this gown was more of a ball gown style and the light layers added to the softness and airiness of the shoot. It was a slight blush color which stood out against the ivory flowers on the flower wall as well as really complemented the pops of coral in the design as well.”
The team kept the hair and makeup more natural as a nod to the classical, down-to-earth style. Lauren adds, “For her makeup, Brittney with Something Blue Stylists went with a more natural look. By keeping things soft, it makes the look timeless. She added slight pink undertones to her eyeshadow to give a more romantic feel. For her hair, Brittney went with an undone low updo. By leaving strands down around her face it creates a more romantic and organic look.”
Classic Cakes of Carmel created a cake that fused modern trends with classic style. Lauren says, “Going with the elegant theme of the shoot, I wanted a very simple, classic tiered cake. Classic Cakes Carmel created an ombré look in coral tones on the cake that was classic with a modern twist to it and worked well with the design of the shoot.”
