Morgan and Ryan grew up in the same small town playing sports with each other’s siblings. Ryan proposed to Morgan while on an evening boat ride. After he stopped in the middle of the lake to talk for a bit, he asked Morgan to stand and he popped the question! “Soon after, we were riding back to the house, and our neighbor let off fireworks,” says Morgan.
When Morgan started planning, she decided she wanted plum and a hint of orange within her florals for her fall wedding. While Pinterest served as inspiration for Morgan, her crafty aunt dreamt up a lot of cute projects and ideas.
The couple’s reception was held at Ryan’s parent’s property. “We put up a large white tent in between beautiful mature trees,” says Morgan. “It was perfect.”
Morgan purchased her dress at Bridal Suite of Louisville. She says, “I thought I knew what I was looking for, but I tried a few high-necked dresses on and they just didn’t fit my body. I knew I didn’t want a ball gown style, and I wanted delicate lace. We went to six stores before I found my dress!”
Morgan says, “My dad passed away about a year before our wedding. So, it was very special for my brother to walk me down the aisle and my uncle to dance with me for the father daughter dance. Also, my mom gave me a diamond bracelet that I wore on our wedding day, and it is a very special piece I will always cherish.”
Morgan’s aunt also made a crystal wish tree. Guests could write wishes to to the couple and hang them on the tree. Another D.I.Y. project was the invites. Morgan bought her invitation template from Etsy and crafted her own invites with the help of friends and family. The crew also spent hours adding wire to broaches in order for the florist to add a little bling to the flowers.
When asked what guests will remember about her wedding, Morgan says, "They will remember the great food, large tent with beautiful decorations and the great DJ who really made the night fly by! The DJ said our wedding was in his top list, and he has been a DJ for many years! We also had a candy table next to the cake table for kids and adults to enjoy and different flavored popcorns as an appetizer for the guests before they arrived for dinner."
Advice from the Bride
Morgan says, “Definitely order bridesmaids' dresses early enough for them to come in and allow the girls to have time to get them properly altered. My bridesmaids really appreciated being able to pick the style of the top of the dress that fit their bodies. Everyone was comfortable and could dance and have a good time! Other than that, start planning early!”
