An Elegant South Bend Ceremony with a Brunch Reception: The Real Wedding of Allison and Bobby Limon

While both working at Gillespie Conference Center, Allison and Bobby met and fell in love. They later got engaged at one of their favorite date locations. During the Fernwood Botanical Gardens' Winter Lights Celebration, Bobby got down on one knee and asked Allison to marry him. She, of course, said yes!
 

Instead of going the traditional path of visiting bridal shops and trying on a bunch of dresses, Allison decided to go the online route with her dress shopping journey an she ended up finding this beautiful gown! Allison explains, "I used the online custom sizing option and my dress was hemmed perfectly! I always knew I wanted a dress with long sleeves and lace, so this was the perfect option." We think the gown looks absolutely gorgeous on her!
 

Since Bobby and Allison both work in the wedding industry as banquet and sales managers at Gillespie Conference Center, the venue that hosted their wedding, they approached planning a little different than a typical couple might. "We both wanted something unique, elegant and casual. We used reference photos through WeddingDay Magazine, as well as vendors that we both worked with closely," Allison shares. "We were so familiar with the Gillespie from working here, and we know how to showcase how beautiful and versatile the venue is." We think they perfectly showcased their wedding and the venue they love so much!
 

As for a theme, Bobby and Allison went for something a little more off the beaten path, as they wanted unique and elegant for their big day. They combined powder blue and ivory in their color scheme to keep things light and airy. Another huge part of their wedding décor was the greenery and wildflowers throughout the ceremony and reception, almost as a nod to their love of the botanical garden where they got engaged. A unique touch they added in was the food! "We were able to have an un-traditional brunch reception after our ceremony and our guests are still raving about how fun and delicious our food options were!" Allison raves.
 

 

What We Love

The wildflowers in the bouquets and centerpieces were special to Bobby and Allison because they grew them at home. They got to watch them grow and nurtured them throughout the year as they planned and prepared for their wedding. Another special touch to their wedding was the inclusion of their lovable rescue puppy Gizmo! Allison gushes, "Gizmo was a stray that we adopted through Pet Refuge, making it so special that we could include him in our big day! He even wore a matching bow tie with Bobby."
 

 

Advice from the Couple

Allison and Bobby advise, "Try to set time together to soak in all of the special memories from the day. Bobby and I read through well-wishes from my bridal shower cards and RSVP responses the night before our wedding to remind ourselves how lucky we are to be surrounded by such an amazing family, friends and team. The day of our wedding, we had a private first look and private vows, which made both of us much enjoy the day even more!"
