2020 Style Shoot Design Contest Submission: An Intimate Organic Michigan Farm Shoot

Photos ByCaptured by Kelsey

This intimate, organic submission to our 2020 Style Shoot Design Contest speaks to the wildflower soul. Ana Skidmore of TwoFoot Creative and her team created this eco-friendly ceremony with sustainability on their minds.“We wanted to show that couples can still have a beautiful wedding with a small guest list (socially distanced, limited to 10 people indoors in Michigan),” she explains.

Simple, elegant and eco-friendly, these recyclable invitations were a must-have for this renewable theme.

Ana and her team wanted every part of this tablescape to focus on sustainable practice. White stoneware plates, farm tables and chairs bring out a vintage look while maintaining reusability. Classic Blue, the 2020 Pantone Color of the Year, adds a refreshing pop of color to this organic shoot’s layout in the place cards, linens, jewelry and favor signs.

Gorgeous pressed Classic Blue florals swirl down this brown sugar spice cake. Layered with local Michigan blueberry preserves and smoothed with buttercream, this confection leaves our mouths watering!

This organic farm fits the exact setting of what the team was looking for in a sustainable shoot. Ana adds, “It has sustainable infrastructure including solar-powered lighting, energy-efficient buildings and an abundance of Michigan-native wildflowers and prairie grasses.”

This bouquet was inspired by the wildflowers that grow naturally on the farm. These gorgeous blooms were locally sourced, and some were even picked from the venue’s field!

Staying intentional and true to the sustainable mindset, the team paired with a local Michigan nonprofit to source the gown. “We had a number of incredible selections, but ultimately went with a flowy A-line gown with the most delicate organza skirt and embroidered illusion bodice,” Ana notes. “Not only is this dress the perfect mix of romance and modernity, but it gives back to the community!”

Keeping the theme of organic beauty, this model’s makeup emphasized her natural look. The florals added into her braid added a touch of whimsy to showcase this bride’s free-spirited, boho side.
