1) HAIR PROFESSIONALS

First, to define the word “professionals” we are referring to licensed cosmetologists and aestheticians - not “certified make up artists” or “trained specialists.” Why would you trust the look of the most important day of your life to a non-pro? And most the time, frankly, they are going to charge you as much or close to it as a licensed and trained professional!

2) ACCENT THE AMAZING, MINIMIZE THE NOT SO MUCH!

So you don’t have big eyes? Eyeline the top only or the top and corner of bottom only....this opens up the eyes.

So you think your cheek bones are insignificant? Highlight above and below with a slightly lighter color and put the blush on the apples only...drag the brush in a downward stroke rather than back and forth and your cheekbones will enhance.

My lips are thin....what do I do? Light and natural gloss! Nothing makes thin lips thinner than a darker color or lining them!

3) GLOW ON YOUR SPECIAL DAY

When putting on your base or foundation, choose a color that matches you - and one that is way too dark - like 3-5 levels darker!  Cream is best for this application - and you must have a great brush! No sponges or fingers here! Cover your skin - as normal - then take dots of the darker color across your cheekbones! Use the brush’s other side to blend this into the lighter foundation - creating a “suntan” effect. You can also do this on the forehead’s high points, the sides of the nose (to thin the nose), and the chin...you will truly look tan. Now, when you put your blush on, you will have an “under-glow” that creates definition in your cheekbones and they will do anything BUT HIDE!

4) WHAT ABOUT MY HAIR?

When selecting a style for your hair, make sure your hair matches the style of the dress! If the style of your dress is A-line or slip dress, something a little more sleek (a more smooth, low chignong or french twist) will compliment the dress. If you have a Cinderella-Princess style gown, curls and a tiara are better. If you are wearing a beach or garden style wedding dress, something side swept and half down with a soft billowing effect will often create a whimsically fashionable look that will knock his socks off! If you are in a corseted dress with a full bottom and a long train, a sophisticated style that incorporates intertwined large curl or a braid will be complimentary.

5) I STILL WANT TO LOOK LIKE ME!

GREAT! My favorite brides let me do something special for their aisle time and then change it for the reception! What better way to show how beautiful you are in the formal fashion of your wedding - hair up and fixed with make up run-way worthy and then change it to a little more fun...maybe drop it to a half up style when you take out the veil...and darken the make up to a more club effect!  Besides, your wedding portfolio will look amazing! You get two looks for the price of one photographer’s day....and a dress change is so popular anyway! It can be a great add on for any bride in any budget and make the day that much more memorable. Your wedding album will reflect both the fun you and the formal you....how many brides do you know that can do that?
