Magic is in the air in this stylish alternative shoot! Shayne of Shayne Culp Photography wanted to honor the tradition of her and her late mother watching the movie “Practical Magic” in a real wedding. “I collaborated with some amazing people to bring gentle knots to the movie into what could be a real wedding,” Shayne notes. “I was picturing an edgy wedding with unique detailing; staying non-traditional as a whole while also paying respect to pagan wedding traditions.”
The team captured this shoot at Stonegate Manor because of the home’s elegant and timeless appeal. Shayne felt that the house located on the property felt as if it was from the same era of the movie. “I think the entire property, as well as the rentals at Stonegate Manor, brought a romantic charm to the shoot that really adds to the whole theme,” she adds.
Not a fan of cake but want to keep the tradition of towering sweets? This team decided to break the mold and utilize pancakes as an alternative style, while also paying homage to the film. “The pancakes reference the true love spell from the movie,” Shayne explains. “One of Sally’s wishes is for the man she falls in love with to be able to flip pancakes in the air.”
The colors in this shoot are bold and rich, meant to tie into the autumn season. We love how the team went above and beyond to give this shoot an extra special floral flair by adding in a cape made entirely of flowers! Even the groom’s boutonniere was designed as a star as a soft nod to the movie's detective!
