This Autumnal Celebration is Centered Around Donuts and Cider: The Real Wedding of Abbie and Ethan Burton

Photos ByCaptured by Kelsey

Abbie and Ethan were introduced by mutual friends in college. After a few times of hanging out, they realized they liked each other and wanted to start dating. All it took for Ethan to have the perfect proposal was a short hike up Sugarloaf Mountain in Marquette, Michigan.

Though she went to two different stores and tried on many dresses in the process, Abbie's mind changed when she found her wedding dress. "I thought I wanted a mermaid style until I tried on the ballgown, and I loved the lace flower details," Abbie shares. We think the dress is stunning and absolutely the right choice. She looks as beautiful as any bride should look on her wedding day!

When it came to wedding planning, Abbie started by choosing her season then working on the color scheme. Abbie explains, "I changed my mind lots of times. I thought I wanted a spring wedding at first but I loved the fall color schemes and the idea of donuts and cider." Pinterest was the biggest influence for their fall-themed wedding. They also added some fun details to the intimate celebration like pumpkins on their reception tables.

The venue they chose came with a really cool photo opportunity for Captured by Kelsey to shoot. With being a train depot, there were trains arriving periodically. Knowing this, Abbie and Ethan timed their ceremony so they could take pictures with a train passing behind them. Their guests will certainly never forget hearing the trains at the reception either!

What We Love

There were many steps Abbie and Ethan took to make their celebration special to themselves as well as their guests. Both Abbie and Ethan wrote their own vows for the ceremony and hand picked Bible verses they wanted to be read during their ceremony. Abbie's cousin, Paul, also said a prayer before their reception began. However, one of the most significant details to their day is that Ethan's grandmother made their wedding cake special for them!

Advice from the couple

Abbie and Ethan advise, "Enjoy the process, do what you want and don’t change your plans for what others think you should do."
