Bright & Bold Vintage: WeddingDay’s Exclusive Central Indiana Cover Shoot

Photos ByElisha Kaldahl Photography

The Vision

When Miranda Schroeder of Thoughtfully Designed Co. started to dream up this shoot, she wanted to add a fun element to a normally sincere wedding day. “The vision was to bring a fun and lighthearted feel to a very serious occasion. The idea was inspired by the spring wildflowers and a collection of bold, bright images found on Pinterest,” she shares. We think the idea was beautifully brought together by all the amazing members of the team, and Elisha Kaldahl Photography captured all of its stunning beauty!

The Decor

“We used a ton of amazing rentals from Violet Vintage,” Miranda gushes. “We used white wire chairs for the ceremony, a diamond ceremony backdrop, hairpin leg table, a mix of eclectic chairs around the dining table and a vintage spindle table for the sweetheart.” Everywhere you look, there are all kinds of pops of color and classic elements. One of our favorites is the yellow vintage couch in the photo lounge!

The Venue

Biltwell Event Center gave our shoot a unique touch with its various textures and moody elements. From the wooden floors to the brick walls and the large windows filling the venue with natural light, every section of this space adds a different style to the photos. From fun to serious, this venue is perfect for any celebration!

The Florals

Taking advantage of every opportunity to bring bright tones into this shoot, Urban Contessa Florals added lots of blooms with color. Along with the green foliage, the centerpieces pop with bright pink and a sunset orange hue. In the photo lounge, yellows and whites are coupled with the mustard couch. The bride’s bouquet and groom’s boutonniere incorporate the same bright pink and sunset orange to bring warmth and fun into the shoot!

The Looks

We used two gorgeous dresses from Sophia's Bridal and Tux for this shoot. "The first dress was a floral embroidered ceremony dress and the reception dress was a convertible gown to tea length dress,” Miranda explains. Fun vintage accents were brought in with the ceremony dress while the reception dress was the perfect length and style to dance the night away! Exotic Perfection’s bold red lip is vintage chic and the bride’s boho low bun hairstyle works beautifully with both looks. We also love the vintage lace gloves and cat-eye sunglasses added to the reception look!

The Stationery

The invitation suite and menus from Wedding Stationery by PSR Designs brings the vintage element to life with classic colors. We love the fun, unique shapes incorporated into the designs!

The Cake

Take a look at that delicious and beautiful cake from Sprinkled With Love! To not distract from the colorful shoot, the three-tiered cake was kept simple. With a basic, white-frosted base, it served as the perfect blank canvas to bring delicate beauty to life. Miranda added loose, colorful petals to the frosting to keep with the bright and bold theme. We think it is such a fun idea to spruce up a normally classic cake!
