While attending Purdue University, Austin and Lexie had a real life "Cinderella Story" where the football player falls for the cheerleader. When Austin transferred to the University of Florida, the couple was able to keep their love alive with a long-distance relationship. Over Christmas, both Austin and Lexie's families traveled to Bonita Springs, Florida where Austin proposed during a sunset walk on the beach on December 30th!

Since Lexie and Austin had been together for seven years before they got engaged, Lexie had plenty of time to amass a Pinterest board with everything she wanted for their special day. "I really envisioned rustic, modern elegance—simple décor and flowers that complemented the space rather than made a statement," Lexie explains. She was able to bring this vision to life through vendor recommendations from friends who had also been married recently. However, building good relationships and finding the right vibe with her vendors were the main deciding factors!

Having been a pageant girl, Lexie thought for sure it would take her too long to decide on her dress. To her surprise, she only tried on six and chose dress number two with the help of a good friend. "At the time of purchase, a dear friend of mine worked in the salon and gave me the ultimate princess experience," Lexie gushes. "The dress truly had everything I had envisioned and more—lace detailing, plunge neck, hint of sparkle were all bonuses that made me feel the most beautiful that I have ever felt in my life." We think she looks stunning in that form-fitting gown, and their photographer, Danielle Harris Photography, captured the beauty of this wedding perfectly.

The venue was everything Lexie imagined and so much more! After scouring Indiana for the perfect venue, Lexie was convinced she'd never find her dream wedding space until she saw an ad for The Sixpence, a relatively new venue. Lexie raves, "From the sketches, it was truly the ideal space that I had dreamed of—a bright white, barn-style venue." She loved the elegant feel the space created with the black details and wooden accents. For their color palette, she only added subtle touches of gold and green to highlight the elegance of the black and white venue.

What We Love

Wanting Lexie's two-year-old niece to be a part of their special day but knowing she wouldn't walk down the aisle by herself, Lexie's grandfather made a special wagon to escort her down the aisle. "I accompanied it by making a sign with my Cricut that read 'If you think I’m cute, you should see my auntie.' Not only did my niece ride in it and do such a great job during the ceremony," Lexie shares. "I am so thankful that we will have this wagon in our family to pass down among my cousins for future weddings." They also had a sign made that read, "And they lived Appleby ever after" that Lexie wants to repurpose and use in their home!

Advice from the couple

Lexie and Austin advise, "When you finally arrive to your big day, ENJOY IT! Try not to stress about the set up and the details—trust in the incredible team of vendors that you have hired. As they do their jobs, do your job: soak in every moment that you can. The biggest memories that stand out to me from our special day are looking into my husband’s eyes on the altar and looking around the room at dinner seeing all of our people (roughly 20 different states of guests were invited!) all in the same place at the same time to celebrate with us. You deserve to see and feel the magic of your day unfold before you."
