This Charleston, South Carolina Celebration Brings in Rustic Midwestern Elements: The Real Wedding of Courtney and Tanner

Photos ByDanielle Schury Photography

Despite being hired to different stations at the same company, Courtney and Tanner were both asked to attend training in the same classroom. Since then, they've been inseparable! Tanner chose to propose during a Christmas photo shoot that was a gift to Courtney, who always wanted family Christmas photos.

After COVID derailed their first wedding date, Courtney actually had to buy two dresses after she lost so much weight that her first dress no longer fit. "I knew I wanted lace but had no idea besides that," Courtney admits. We think she looks absolutely stunning in her gown. The intricate lace work along her dress is beautiful, especially around her back!

Their photographer, Danielle Schury Photography, was the one who suggested a destination wedding to Courtney and Tanner. "We looked at a few places in Illinois and didn’t fall in love with any," Courtney explains. "Once we saw the pictures of the venue and the beautiful trees I was sold at going to look at the venue. The second we took the tour we knew this was the one." When they had the venue in place, they began to look for other vendors based on convenience and reviews.

Courtney and Tanner loved their venue so much, they designed their whole theme around it! They share, "We loved the Spanish moss that was on the trees, and we just built off of that." Our favorite details are the ones that remind us of the Midwestern countryside that we all know and love, like the well-loved wooden tables at the reception and the floral elements around the hexagon arbor.

What We Love

One of their favorite vendors was their incredible photographer, Danielle with Danielle Schury Photography. Aside from recommending where to host a destination wedding, Danielle also was a large part of what made their day so special. "We had amazing people at our wedding which made it so very special. From the photographer and videographer who worked amazing together to the photo booth and ice cream vendor," Courtney raves.

Advice from the couple

Courtney and Tanner advise, "Ask questions! Google places and read reviews. There are endless amounts of options for everything. We also loved any advice given to us by our photographer and wedding planner. They literally made the day so smooth."
