Okay, okay. We can all admit that Tinder isn't exactly known for starting long-term relationships, but for Todd and Kathia, Tinder was the beginning of it all. The Chicago couple met on the app and had three canceled dates before they finally went out. Kathia says, “I had lost all hope for these kinds of dates, but one day I just said, ‘Yes, let's meet!’. I mean, a couple of beers and appetizers never killed anybody, right? He was waiting outside the place for me when I got there, and it felt different and right since the first moment I saw him— I knew he was the one.”

Kathia did not even realize Todd had proposed when the big question was asked. The couple was hanging out late on a Friday night when they started talking about how much fun they had together and their future. Kathia says, “So, his exact words were, ‘I think we should get married.’ and I said ‘Yes, we should!’. In my mind, I thought he was trying to get to know my perspective about marriage. But, no! We were already engaged!” Kathia suddenly realized what had happened and she became overjoyed.

Kathia and Todd starting planning a relaxed, brewery wedding. Kathia adds, “We decided to have the smallest and most simple wedding possible, so it could be as soon possible and we could let our families and close friends know.” The couple knew Metropolitan Brewery would be the perfect spot to celebrate in a laid-back way.

What we love

This couple kept their family close on the big day. Kathia says, ”His wonderful mom helped us with all the decorations and little details to make it magical and beautiful, his daughter held the rings for us, Todd’s grandma read a Bible passage for us in the ceremony and our dearest friend Emma Mullins was our photographer.” It was a sweet way to have everyone involved and make sure that they could still have time to truly connect.

Advice from the bride

Kathia says, “Your wedding day is for you as a couple. Don’t try to please anybody. Trust your gut and get the things that make you happy for your very special day.”
