For the second year in a row, WeddingDay has hosted our Photographer Collaborative Style Shoot Event where photographers from all around the Midwest are invited to gain style shoot experience and grow their connections with other experts in the wedding industry. Working with planner All in the Details, lead photographer, Vilma Maria Photographer, and Carmel, Indiana venue, Iron & Ember Events, this team was truly top-notch! Take a look at the results from this romantic day, and read on to see how you can get involved in our next collaborative style shoot!

THE VISION

Delft Blue pottery inspired our 2022 Indianapolis Photographer Collaborative Style Shoot Event! Sarah Farthing from All in the Details explains, “For my family, this pottery has remained a feature in all of our households for decades...I wanted to create a style shoot centered on this vibrant pottery but complementing it with some modern elements.” She even chose to include her mother’s plates and candlesticks as well as her grandma’s silver in the shoot, describing the day as a "love letter to her family".

THE VENUE

Sarah wanted to shift the focus from downtown Indianapolis—where most local couples get married—to the north side of Indy for a more unique look. We chose one of the hottest venues in the area, Iron & Ember Events, to host our event. While the venue has a modern feel, it is truly quite a blank canvas to highlight as you desire, which made it easy to document both by Vilma Maria Photographer and Clark Videography. Sarah advises, “It’s versatile in that manner as you can truly adjust the feeling of the event space simply by implementing different color palettes, texture and lighting to suit your vision.”

THE DECOR

Obviously, Delft Blue had to make a major appearance in this shoot with the linen from Nüage Designs, and the team decided to accent it with equally vibrant colors, such as pink, to make it pop. An array of other rentals were utilized to bring this romantic shoot to life. Sarah shares, “MichaelAngelos' navy velvet matisse chairs created a cozy setting for the sweetheart table and their navy velvet loft chairs were the perfect addition to the guest table.” The lighting, votives, white chairs, rug and specialty drink displays were also from MichaelAngelos. We also think the stationery from The Lettering Grove is absolutely perfect for this shoot and looks stunning on those tablescapes!

THE FLORALS

There was a combination of real and faux flowers used in this shoot. To help balance the palette, vibrant pinks and reds were used throughout the florals. “Bridget Camden with B. Petal Company created amazing arrangements for this style shoot. Her mantelpiece and the way she made the sweetheart table come to life were breathtaking,” Sarah raves. Blue Blossom provided the rental florals including the two beautiful arches both in the ceremony and reception looks as well as the aisle florals. Every single flower helps elevate and fill the space!

THE LOOKS

As soon as Sarah saw the blue and white gown from The Frock Bridal House, she knew it had to be included. “It fit the overall vision of the style shoot too perfectly to not. This statement gown seemed fitting for the ceremony,” Sarah gushes. For the rest of the shoot, they wanted looks that were more relaxed. They found a dress with similar sleeves for the first reception gown then went with a bridal suit for a modern departure look, including a fun fur wrap! The second bride's dresses were more classic in style or were classic cuts with modern styles. As for the hair and makeup, The Mane Bloomington styled a classic half-up hairdo and bold makeup for our first model's ceremony and reception dresses and transitioned into a sleek bun for her suit. Our second bride had beautiful curls styled in an updo with natural makeup. All of these looks complemented the navy suits from JBenzal Menswear that the grooms wore!

THE CAKE

Sea Salt and Cinnamon truly did an amazing job matching the colors and décor in their cake! They created an incredible three-tiered confection that mimicked the Delft Blue pottery design on the tablescape and the first bridal dress. We love the attention to detail that the bakers took in this design. It almost looks too delicate and flawless to eat!
