Annie attended grad school with Amy's sister but didn't have a chance to meet Amy until the brunch after Amy's sister's wedding. When they did have a chance to talk, Annie felt like they'd known each other forever. Amy proposed to Annie on a Floridian beach just after midnight on New Year's Eve.

When talking about wedding planning, Annie shares, "We actually did NOTHING for several months. We’d been together so long that we just enjoyed it for a while and took our time to decide what felt right." Amy and Annie tossed around elopement or destination weddings for a while, but COVID kept them from a Hawaiian wedding. Despite that, Annie said she wouldn't change how it happened.

Annie had no idea where to begin for planning. However, when Amy mentioned a boat, it felt right to Annie. "We both just love nature,
especially the water, so this just felt right. We wanted it to be unique and fun," Annie explains. The boat company they chose to host their wedding already came with preferred vendors, so that took a lot of stress out of Amy and Annie's hands. Their planner also helped them stick to their timeline, so everything happened when it needed to. The biggest thing Amy and Annie had to do was find dresses, and we think they look stunning in their selections! We're also obsessed with Amy's jewel-adorned Badgley Mischka shoes!

Even though they were battling COVID and the uncertainty with guidelines, Amy and Annie were able to have fun with their ceremony and everyone who was able to celebrate with them. Annie shares, "We had asked all of our guests (the night before) to plan their dance as they walked out in the aisle. We weren’t sure what to expect but it was AMAZING!" They also gave all their guests Michigan-theme swag bags for coming to the wedding. They were filled with products that Amy and Annie considered "the Best of Michigan", such as the best popcorn and chocolates!

What we Love

Amy and Annie's visit with the boating company was what sealed the deal for them. Annie raves, "All of the staff was really friendly,
and we could have the ceremony in the marina ahead of our three-and-a-half-hour boat cruise reception. They also made Amy and I feel very special and no different than any other couple even though we were two brides."

Advice from the Couple

"Try to enjoy every part because it’s once-in-a-lifetime, and before you know it…it’ll be over," Annie advises. "If you need more time or don’t want to feel rushed, pick a later date. At the end of the day, the most important thing is how you feel on that day, and who you are surrounded by. The little details don’t matter."
