This Double Date Photoshoot Turned into a Lake Michigan E-Session: The Engagement of Heather and Juyoung

Being God-loving people, Heather and Juyoung met through their college ministry program. After a long talk about morals, hopes, dreams and future goals, Heather and Juyoung both realized they wanted to marry someone with those same qualities. As time passed, they grew closer and closer until they decided to date. As a photographer, Heather had the brilliant idea to do a style shoot "double date" with another photographer and her boyfriend. Heather's sister, who is a known wedding hair stylist, even did her hair for the shoot. Ankle deep in Lake Michigan and wearing a white dress, Heather was filled with shock as Juyoung got down on one knee to propose!

While Heather and her mom were working on planning the wedding, they looked at rings, and she found one she loved. Heather knew she wanted something that wouldn't overwhelm her finger with a yellow-gold band and solitaire gem. Wanting Juyoung to have an opportunity to find a ring on his own, Heather gave him a choice. "I told him that if he wanted to pick still, he could get one similar and not the exact one," Heather shares. "But he knew that since I found one that I loved that he wanted to get me that very ring!" However, it only arrived the night before Juyoung's proposal, which made Juyoung a little nervous!

Heather and Juyoung had the amazing opportunity of a close friend photographing their engagement as it was a part of their staged "double date" shoot. Another of Heather's dreams came true with their engagement session as well. "In every single sunset beach session that I photographed at New Buffalo beach, I whispered to myself, 'I want pictures of us here!' So, I asked if our mini styled shoot could be there," Heather raves. We think it was the perfect place for this magical moment!

Planning went really smoothly for Heather and Juyoung. Heather admits, "We actually had most of the wedding planned, the date set, everything booked and all the decorations bought before we got officially engaged!" Though this made her feel a bit over-prepared in the early stages of their engagement, Heather is now feeling stress-free and enjoying being engaged to the love of her life!
