Lizzie moved to Ann Arbor in 2013 to start grad school. As a newcomer to the city, she was eager to met new people. Rob happened to be one of the first people she met and fate could not have dealt them a better hand. Lizzie says, “We were both in the same program working on PhDs in computer science, and our labs were collaborating on a project at the time. We became friends first, often seeing each other at school and socially, then started dating about a year later.”

Lizzie and Rob decided together that they wanted to get married. Like many modern couples, it was a decision that they both came to instead of a total surprise. Lizzie adds, “However, we didn’t want to skip all of the traditions---Rob wanted to formally ask the big question! So we went ring shopping together, and once we had the ring, Rob proposed on a quiet day in our home.”

When it came to picking out the ring, Lizzie knew that she wanted something unique. So, instead of hitting jewelry stores, the couple headed to some antique shops. “We went shopping and found it at a local antique store,” says Lizzie. “It’s a delicate platinum diamond ring from the 1920s with leaf-shaped details---I’d never seen anything like it and loved it immediately.”

“We wanted to find a photographer for both engagement photos and the wedding and use the engagement session as an excuse to get comfortable with them,” notes Lizzie. “I found Kelly and Trevor on Instagram and loved their style and down-to-earth perspective so much. When Rob and I met them in person, we also really enjoyed their company, so it was an easy choice to have them do our engagement photos and be a part of our wedding.” Me + Him Photo stuck out to the couple and once they met with them, they knew they had found the right photographers!
