In 2018, Alicia saw Brandon's profile on a dating app and immediately knew he was special. She swiped right and sent him a message. After their first date at the Bongo Room, Alicia knew he was the one! "Everything was just so comfortable and I couldn’t get over his adorable dimples and how his voice just felt like something I’ve been missing my whole life," Alicia gushes. At the same brunch spot three years later, Brandon got down on one knee and proposed to Alicia!

When it came to dress shopping, Alicia thought she knew exactly what she'd walk out with, but her mind changed at the appointment. "I thought I would go with something very sleek, simple and modern, but that just didn’t feel like me when I tried on that style," Alicia shares. "There was a dress my mom had picked out beforehand that she wanted me to try on. When she had sent me the photo of it, I think a part of me knew that it would be the one." When she saw it in person, she was certain she'd love it! Not wanting to choose the first dress, she ended up trying it on second. Considering the seven dresses she tried on that day, the second one was her choice. We love how everything came together with her stunning up-do and simple makeup to highlight her natural beauty!

Though they were excited, Alicia and Brandon decided that they didn’t want to rush their engagement and took time to figure things out when planning. The couple started with Pinterest to find their color scheme and the vibe they wanted for their big day. Next, they discussed their budget and started touring venues. They had a great guide for finding vendors. "One of my biggest goals, if not THE biggest goal, was for us to be surrounded by people that make us happy and are genuinely good people on our wedding day," Alicia admits. This led them to find the dream team of vendors to make their wedding day a success!

Even though Alicia and Brandon went with a barn venue, they didn't pick it for its rustic style. Alicia explains, "I knew I didn’t want to have a rustic barn theme, but instead a modern warm vibe that matched the updates that Jon had been making to the barn. In order to do this, we wanted to limit the amount of wood/rustic items we used and instead lean towards clean lines, gold accents and amber tones." Alicia actually based their color scheme of navy and caramel off an invitation suite she saw online while browsing Pinterest with Brandon. They both agreed that earthy tones were the right way to go!

What We Love

As many couples do, Alicia and Brandon worked to tailor their day to their interests and likes. For example, Brandon isn't a big fan of cake, so they had a small cutting cake along with a massive table of desserts, including macarons, one of Brandon's favorites. They also have a running joke of getting Mexican food after all the bars close, so Alicia mentioned their love of late-night Mexican food in her vows and provided a taco bar for their guests as the night went on. Speaking of special treats for their guests, the apple orchard at their venue created a unique opportunity to provide their guests with an apple station with plenty of dipping options!

Advice from the Couple

"My biggest piece of advice would be to not let the planning process stress you out, but instead find a way to make it enjoyable for both of you. For example, Brandon is not the planning type and was not at all interested in the details and I am ALL about the details. So at first I would get frustrated when he didn’t seem interested in helping me decide on colors for the linen napkins, or the silverware, or the water goblet cups, but then realized that it was better (for both of us) if I had him help me find the overall vibe we wanted for the place settings," Alicia and Brandon advise. "Your wedding is about you two, your love and planning what the most perfect and special day is FOR YOU TWO! Keep that in mind when planning, remember how special your love is and don’t let the planning process get between you."
