This Earthy South Bend Ceremony Is Overflowing with Organic Beauty: The Real Wedding of Julie and Evan Beakas

Photos ByBorne Back Photography

Julie and Evan paired up as lab partners in their undergraduate physics course. When the team hit it off, they knew they had found something special. Evan surprised Julie with a sudden proposal during a lakeside hike in Colorado. Julie was shocked, but it didn’t stop her from saying 'yes'!

Julie traveled all the way to the Pacific Northwest to find her wedding attire. Finding the perfect fit in Seattle, Washington, Julie’s two-piece body-suit and skirt is boho at its finest. “I thought I wanted a super simple gown but ended up with the exact opposite of simple,” she adds.

The first thing the couple did was pick out a date. Julie wanted to have a fall wedding, but the pair had to work around Julie’s high school coaching schedule and many family birthdays. Once the date was set, they focused on finding the perfect theme--a mesh of industrial, rustic, and organic elegance. “Nature was a big inspiration,” Julie adds. “Ev and I love nature and hiking. Our world is so beautiful. I really wanted to incorporate the simple and beautiful aspects of nature.” We love the stylish and organic aspects of this wedding, with rentals and day-of coordination by Burns Rent-Alls Inc. What we love

Family was a large part of this couple’s celebration. From help designing the florals to building the archway they got married under, Julie and Evan’s loved ones were there to lend a hand. Some family members traveled from long distances to spend the day there, all the way from Washington and Europe!

advice from the couple

Julie urges brides not to rush their planning process, and enjoy their time being engaged. “I think a big part of me not being stressed was that I had a year and a half long engagement,” she adds. “We had so much time to get things arranged, and we were able to save more money to pay for things along the way and avoided going into debt for a big party.”
