We love an unexpected venue and this style shoot’s locale, Forty Nine South, is exactly that. Kendra of Little Blue Bird Photography and Margaret of Edgewood Place Occasions teamed up to create a super cute, yet edgy style shoot. The team says, “Forty Nine South was formerly an elementary school and is now a super cool, unique wedding and events venue that is loaded with charm and nostalgia while still having a sleek, new feel and a great, neutral color scheme.” The team played off the neutral atmosphere and create a shoot that was truly one-of-a-kind with endlessly chic features.

Kendra says, “We wanted to put together something a little different and a little edgy with kind of a retro, ‘rebel school kid’ kind of vibe with the leather, guitar, motorcycle and cool-as-can-be bride and groom.” This cool-kid vibe was complemented with a black and white color palette. Kendra adds, “Black and white is a classic color combination that will never go out of style – add in some bright pops of color, mixed metals and some awesome florals with a hint of tropical botanicals, and things feel more modern and interesting.”

The team made great use of the venue’s space. Kendra notes, “The lounge scene and ceremony were setup were in what was the school’s library, which is full of the best window light and awesome gray and orange color scheme.” To add to the fun color scheme, the team utilized many decor pieces and other elements. “We carried over the concrete and metallic feel with a cake that looks like concrete dipped in metallic silver and a concrete cocktail menu,” says Kendra.

Other elements that helped to pull the shoot together were edgier pieces like the black table runner, the black candles and colored glassware. Kendra says, “The mix of natural and earthy, woven placemats with the more modern, funky elements of glass and mixed metals and leather really keep things interesting. The tables and metal chairs are available at the venue and are an awesome way for brides to really take their wedding to the next level.”
