In case you haven't noticed, we're total animal lovers here at WeddingDay and any style shoot featuring a dog is definitely going to make us smile! Add in some classy, elegant touches by some very talented vendors and this gorgeous style shoot has our attention. When describing her vision for this style shoot, Melissa Mathis of Forever and A Day Events and Design was inspired by a couple of things. “I wanted something that was pure elegance and timeless—something that would never go out of style," she says. "I loved the pop of color that the table linen gave and knew I wanted to use Hank, the dog!”

The shoot came together seamlessly, incorporating a white, blush and marsala-inspired palette. Melissa loved the blank slate appeal of the space and the natural brick and wood floor elements. “I chose the photography studio as it was white brick,” says Melissa. “I loved the brightness and the texture the brick gave. The bold linen was really able to pop on that backdrop." Melissa infused beautiful floral into her design, including standard roses, David Austin roses, spray roses, dahlias, seeded eucalyptus and baby eucalyptus. We say: Stunning use of color and you know it’s a good day when the only challenge is getting a dog to look at the camera!

When it came to the other decor, Melissa turned to The Rental Company. From the ghost chairs and beaded chargers to the bold linens and textured runner, each detail had its place in the overall design. “The color of the table linen was definitely a hot trend! I loved the color so much that I had to work with it,” says Melissa.

Keeping with the classy, timeless appeal of the shoot, Melissa found the ideal gown from Renee Austin Wedding. “I wanted something that was subtle with accents that stood out,” she says. “The simple skirt and deep neckline was the perfect fit!”

Melissa worked with Krystle Waivio Hair and Lisamarie of Wonderfully Made Beauty to achieve an equally classy hair and makeup look. Melissa says, ”Krystle and I came up with a loose, curly low bun! The makeup was perfectly done with a gray, smoky eye and soft lip color!”

The gorgeous stationery suite was in the same rich palette and incorporated alluring florals. A clever idea was doubling the menu as escort cards!

For the cake, Melissa wanted something gold with clean lines. “The added ribbon was a perfect final touch! Also, I had to have mini cakes for the favors! Ginger took that idea and ran with it and they made a perfect finishing detail to each place setting,” says Melissa.
