While Devin was playing basketball internationally, he met Nuša in Slovenia. As he moved around to Turkey and Germany, Devin kept up his relationship with Nuša. After spending time in a long-distance relationship, they decided they wanted to move in together instead of staying in their separate countries. Devin spent his next year in Paris, France with Nuša living with him. With one year of living together under their belts, Devin decided it was time to propose. "We visited mountains where we spent time in nature and hiking. Devin popped the question in my favorite place in Slovenia, on top of a hill and in front of mountains bathing in sunset lighting," Nuša raves.

Nuša's wedding dress was one of the most important parts of her day. "I had an exact idea of what style of dress I wanted," Nuša gushes. "After I chose the dress, which was a simple and elegant satin dress, we also added a leg slit because that was one of the details I really wanted in my dress." We love how she made this classic gown look slightly modern with her addition of the slit. Nuša looks absolutely show-stopping for her big day!

Planning an international wedding is super difficult when you are living in one country and planning for a wedding in another. In Nuša and Devin's case, Nuša had some additional challenges. Devin signed a basketball contract to play in Japan after he proposed to Nuša. Due to COVID, Nuša was not able to go to Japan with him, so she stayed in Slovenia. Nuša explains, "Due to time differences, we only had a small window in the day where me, Devin and vendors could hop on Zoom and plan our wedding. Michigan is thirteen hours behind Japan and six hours behind Slovenia." They were able to get their venue selected before Devin relocated to Japan, but the rest of their vendors were more challenging to speak with after finding them through Michigan bridal Facebook groups.

Nuša and Devin's wedding was the first time the happy couple was able to bring together both sides of their families. Since Devin was from Michigan and Nuša's family is native to Slovenia, there weren't many opportunities for their families to meet in person. Luckily, Nuša's family was able to travel to Michigan for their wedding, so their families were able to finally meet for the first time!

What We Love

The vendors in Nuša and Devin's wedding were super flexible. "At the beginning I had no idea what we wanted, but once we starting the planning, my vision became clearer," Nuša shares. "Inspiration for our wedding was the venue itself. It was very green and elegant." With plenty of green touches, Devin and Nuša wanted to include greenery to help fill this space. Design Quintessentials was able to help them with all their floral needs like that beautiful garland on the head table! They also chose to include nude, blush and peach tones to supplement the greenery while keeping the wedding elegant.

Advice from the Couple

Nuša and Devin advise, "Do not overthink it. Enjoy the process, and—especially on the wedding day—do not stress with how things will go, simply enjoy the day. It goes by too fast anyway, and it would be a shame to not fully enjoy it."
