Located just outside of Fort Wayne in New Haven, Indiana, The Orchid Events and Catering is an intimate and whimsical event space that captures the spirit of Midwestern style and hospitality. Being a family-owned and operated venue and kitchen, The Orchid delivers a hometown atmosphere with customer service that makes you feel like you’re family. Owner, Solitaire Hile, says, “A couple should choose The Orchid if they want to feel like more than “just another couple.” Our caring staff truly listens and wants to make your day memorable.” Given that familial vibe of The Orchid, the goal of this style shoot was to tell a story. With a unique venue sitting on over twenty acres of beautiful woodlands, complete with a pond—this was a tale of romance and beauty. At The Orchid, any couple is transported into their very own fairytale.

The style shoot started with the wedding planner, Kelly Geiser. She says, “At The Orchid, you are greeted by a beautiful iron gate that makes you feel as though you are entering a secluded spot perfect for a private celebration of the bride and groom. It is also very versatile. You can opt for a ceremony by the woods or arrive after your church ceremony and greet guests with a beautiful space for cocktail hour.” This shoot focused on an organic experience that used both the indoor and outdoor areas. Utilizing a bright palette, Kelly created a bright and airy shoot. She notes, “I envisioned a sweet, fun-filled, lighthearted day complete with a New Orleans style parade post-ceremony leading guests to the cocktail hour on the patio.” The shoot highlights The Orchid Room and The Petal Room. While The Petal Room is an intimate space, The Orchid Room is great for large parties up to 300 guests. Each space offers its own unique features from spacious dance floors to accent walls. Their pavilion is another highlighted space with gorgeous, exposed beams and patio lighting.

Elements that were brought into the shoot delivered a neutral palette with delicate details that offered an ethereal feeling. Kelly notes, “For the ceremony, A Party Apart provided a rounded arch and beautiful crystal chandelier which we placed in the pavilion in front of the wooded backdrop. Bridal Blooms adorned the arch with breathtaking florals. This allowed for the reversal of the vision, bringing the inside outside. For cocktail hour, we chose neutral linens for the cocktail tables that were tied within garland. We added a yard game for entertainment. For the reception, we opted for a harvest sweetheart table with beautiful accent chairs as well as neutral linens for the guest seating tables.” One of the most alluring aspects of this venue is that not only are you are tucked away at a secluded location, you are also not far from urban destinations. Solitaire notes, “We are only a 10-minute drive to downtown Fort Wayne.” The Orchid is truly the best of both worlds!
