Rachel always had a love for the outdoors. From horseback riding to hiking - the outdoors were her home. That is why John’s proposal was more than perfect. As he and Rachel were walking a tree-lined path, he stopped to pop the question and the answer was “yes!”. Rachel adds, “We sat for a moment and cried tears of joy and then walked back to the house where Johnny had arranged for family and close friends to be there to join in the celebration.”

The Planning

The couple began planning a wedding that would nod to their earthy vibes. They decided that a fall wedding was ideal as the season offered unequivocal natural beauty from its rich tones and romantic atmosphere. Rachel says, “We were also pretty set on having a Saturday wedding so options were limited as many places had understandably been fully booked.”

The DRESS

“I knew I wanted to have something off the shoulders that was comfortable and simple that I could move in,” notes Rachel. “I had Grace Loves Lace on my radar but knew they were an Australia based brand with only limited U.S. showroom locations.” Rachel did not give up easily, though, as she was able to find the brand at a Chicago showroom for a limited time. She knew the dress would be the ideal match for her fall wedding. She says, “When I tried the Cien gown on, it fit like a glove and I was hooked.”

The Venue

As luck would have it, the couple was able to secure one of Southwest Michigan’s most popular wedding venues. The couple set their eyes on Tabor Hill, an outdoor vineyard event space in Buchanan, Michigan. Tabor Hill was everything they could wish for and more with their lush vines, whimsical countryside scenery and luxury Estate tent.

The palette

Rachel wanted to have a fall wedding with a more modern palette. She picked a deep burgundy color scheme with touches of greenery to keep everything fresh. She adds, “We chose deep shades of burgundy based on the fall timing and elegance it brought.” Her bouquet boasted all-white florals that added a bright hue to the organic colors of the seasons, while the tablescape played with pastel pinks and burgundy for a fun, elegant look.

What We Love

Rachel and John made their ceremony extra special by including their friends and family. Rachel says, “We wrote our own ceremony and vows, which meant a lot to us as we were able to incorporate family members and close friends into the ceremony by asking them to share a blessing.” Having those blessings at the ceremony brought everyone closer together and created unforgettable memories.
