In a strange twist of fate, Andrew and Andrew met on a dating app in July of 2018 and fell in love. Andrew's proposal came in August of 2021 while the two were on their annual vacation. "Every year, Andrew and I vacation to Mackinac, and that year we we decided to wake up early on the 13th to take a ferry to the island to enjoy an early sunrise breakfast in the Grand Hotel's stately dining room," Andrew shares. After walking around the property for a while, they found a porch that overlooked the gardens where Andrew dropped to one knee and popped the question.

Andrew actually thrifted much of his white, Prince Charming-inspired outfit. "Sticking true to myself, I began thrifting early on for what I wanted to wear. I thrifted my jacket that had the perfect Prince Charming look with gold buttons down each side of the jacket with gold ribbons connecting them to each side of the jacket. The ivory pants I wore were also thrifted and high waisted, that matched the jacket perfectly," Andrew raves. We think the sapphire crown is such a show-stopping touch that beautifully ties Andrew's look to the bridal party's outfits!

The happy couple wanted to have an art deco themed venue to bring their Great Gatsby inspired reception to life. Both of them felt calm in a church, so they knew they wanted to be married in one. They were able to find a church that allowed non-members to wed in Dearborn and found a banquet hall in Pontiac that matched their vision for their reception venue. The other vendors, such as their photographer, Moonrae Photography, came from recommendations from friends and family members or were people the happy couple knew. And the team did an amazing job bringing their vision to life!

What We Love

The original plan was to have art deco lanterns as the centerpieces, but they couldn't find the style or amount that they needed to fill their tables. "We finally decided on candelabras. The candelabra idea came about after looking at centerpiece ideas online. We really liked using the candelabras, candle tapers, and small glass jewels dangling from each arm of the candelabra," Andrew gushes. We think they turned out perfect for the vibe they were looking for!

Advice from the Couple

The happy couple advises, "Our best advice would be, even if everything doesn’t go as planned, at the end of the day you still will end up marrying the love of your life. Your wedding day is only one day in a lifetime of special moments shared."
