It's one of the first decisions every bride makes—where to have the wedding. This decision can shape the rest of the wedding, which is why many brides take a lot into consideration before choosing a venue. That being said, there are few venues that can deliver all that a bride is seeking. From great service to a perfect atmosphere and unforgettable elements that create that romantic vibe every bride desires—The Embassy Theatre in Fort Wayne, Indiana holds all that and more! That's why we sat down for an exclusive Q&A with their Event Manager, Kelly Geiser, to learn about everything they have to offer!

Can you tell us a little bit about the history of your venue?

"The Embassy Theatre and Hotel Indiana is a nationally registered historical building. It was built in 1928 as an entertainment venue where patrons could travel to see a show and then stay overnight at the Hotel Indiana. Many famous acts have graced the stage over the past 90 years. While the historical value alone is unique, it’s the beautiful architecture and stunning details that draw our couples in. There’s a feeling about standing in the Embassy that transcends time, so, in a word, it’s timeless."

What are some highlights of your venue?

"One really big highlight is the marquee. Couples love seeing their name in lights. Often times, it’s the first thing they see when arriving for their big day. It's that very moment when it dawns on them that their dreams are coming true! Other highlights include our two-story Ballroom and the Rooftop Patio."

What services are provided at the Embassy for weddings?

"We provide the hard items including the tables and chairs as well as the setup. We work with couples to create a floor plan specific to their event and coordinate with their chosen vendors. We meet at intervals throughout the process to fine-tune details and manage rehearsals when hosting the ceremony. We are not a turn-key venue but rather a full-service experience."

What advice would you give a couple looking to book with you?

"Book early and if you can be flexible with your date, that is even better! Consider an off-peak date for your wedding and you’ll be amazed at how many doors that opens...not only at the Embassy but with all of your favorite vendors!"

How many event spaces are available at your venue?

"We have several within our building but the Ballroom is the most versatile. It can be the backdrop for a beautiful ceremony, it can host a plated dinner for 300 and it can be scaled down to host a more intimate and private gathering. Other space rentals include the Mezzanine Lounge, Hotel Lobby, and the Theatre Lobby."

If a couple is looking to have an elegant wedding at your venue, what space would you recommend?

"The Ballroom is perfectly suited for elegance. It offers beautiful detail and wonderful lighting accented by a herringbone wood dance floor. It’s elegance is effortless."

If a couple is looking to have a more intimate wedding at your venue, what space would you recommend?

"There are several opportunities for the more intimate of gatherings. When we meet for that initial walkthrough, we gather details and recommend the space that speaks to them and is their perfect backdrop."

What is the difference between having a wedding at the Embassy vs. another venue?

"The beauty and timelessness of our venue and the patron experience, beginning to end, for our couple and their guests."

Lastly, what do couples love most about having their weddings at the Embassy?

"Some of life’s most memorable moments happen at the Embassy. Many have come as a child to see a show, some have even performed on stage during Festival of Trees. It may have been where the couple had their first date or where they got engaged. We have the fabulous opportunity of hosting some of life’s best memories, and even after the couple says 'I do' on the best day of their lives in the most beautiful of places, they can revisit that day over and again for the rest of their lives. They become a part of the history of the Historic Embassy Theatre!
