There was an instant attraction between Christy and Michael. Meeting through mutual friends in college, the pair dated for a few years before they decided to take the next step. Braving a snowstorm, the pair drove from Indianapolis to Purdue to watch a basketball game. Even though Michael knelt down in the snow to propose, Christy’s 'yes' kept them warm!

The pair wanted to tie the knot in April of this year, immediately after Christy graduated medical school in May. However, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the pair had to postpone their traditional celebration until December, and have an intimate ceremony on their original date. Christy explains, “We were just so ready to be husband and wife, and I wanted to start practicing medicine with his last name.”

Following social distancing guidelines, Christy and Michael were able to create their own stylish day on top of a parking garage. Christy admits, “It was not anything like what I had imagined our wedding day looking like, but like Ellie Goulding’s song ‘Anything Could Happen’, anything really can happen.” They live-streamed their ceremony to their friends and family through Zoom so everyone could be part of it. Even their pup, Rosie, got to spend the day with them!

What we love

Christy says that there are many aspects to her ceremony that were unique to the couple. From borrowing her wedding dress from her photographer to having the rest of the ceremony’s decor donated, the pair will always remember the support their loved ones gave them.

Advice from the couple

Christy urges other couples to remember what their wedding should truly be focused on. She notes, “It’s to make a commitment to your partner to spend the rest of your life with them and to love them unconditionally. It’s easy to get caught up in everything else, but stay flexible and kind.”
