Mutual friends and a few weekends spent in the Saint Louis area are what led Celina and Peter to meet. However, they have a complete stranger named Molly to thank for encouraging Peter to talk to Celina. After a few months of playing hard to get on Celina's part, the two started dating in October of 2018. Even though they lived in different cities, Celina and Peter realized it was a connection they didn't want to lose. They both ended up in Kansas City, Missouri where Peter proposed to Celina after a lunch picnic at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art!
"My wedding gown was my something borrowed! My cousin so selflessly offered me her own wedding gown when we were visiting overseas over Christmas!" Celina raves. However, Celina was able to personalize it with her own style by adding some unique flower earrings and sparkly, strappy shoes. We love how the floral details in the bodice extend down into the skirt of the dress like vines would hang on buildings. As for Peter's outfit, Celina—though she may not remember it—told him that a green velvet suit jacket would look sharp. He got lucky and found one that fit the bill at the second store they visited!
The most important thing for Celina and Peter was for them to feel relaxed on their wedding day. They didn't put much stress on their planning process. Celina explains, "Our priorities were to have fun, enjoy a nice meal with our families and just be present. We built our timeline around these priorities, and it was perfect for us!" They ended up with an intimate and simple wedding that looks so cozy and loving!
Instagram was a huge source of inspiration for Celina when it came to picking a theme and color scheme for her wedding. "For inspiration, we wanted a springy, light feel, a touch of vintage and a touch of drama. Our color palette was blush tones and a rich green," Celina shares. Most of their vendors came from online searches with pictures coming in handy when choosing their florist and baker!
What We Love
The happy couple's big day was stuffed to the brim with personal touches. "I’d say we personalized the food as much as possible since we ended up making it ourselves! We weren’t having much luck finding a caterer that fit exactly what we wanted, and Peter really loves to cook, so we decided (very apprehensively) that preparing the food ourselves was the best move," Celina admits. Along with that, the venue's color scheme reminded them of their home, so it felt very comfortable to them. They also hand-picked all the music to their celebration from ceremony to reception and share that listening to that playlist still brings them fuzzy feelings to this day!
Advice from the Couple
Celina and Peter advise, "Do whatever is best for you. There can be a lot of pressure to meet other people’s expectations but at the end of the day, it’s your day and you should remind yourself of that constantly while going through the planning process."
