Becky and Andrew met through work. While it wasn't loved at first sight, Becky says, “After a few months of working together we began talking more and exchanged numbers. We texted non-stop of about a month before deciding to go on our first date.”

It was a spring day in Michigan when Andrew popped the big question. However, despite the sun being out it was still freezing (typical Midwest weather). Andrew asked Becky if she wanted to go for a walk and see that the sun was out, and she initially said “yes”. When she realized it was cold she told him, no, but he was persistent. Becky continues, "I hesitantly agreed, put on my coat and hat and we headed for the trail. We didn't see a single other person on the trail, likely because of the cold because usually, it's very busy. We walked to one of our favorite spots, he got down on one knee and pulled the ring box out of his pocket. I could not believe it!”

“We live in an old factory that has been converted into apartments and townhomes and we absolutely love it,” says Becky. “We knew we wanted to encompass some of the features we love about our home into the place we first celebrated our marriage.” Grand Loft ended up being the perfect location, combining that industrial aesthetic they loved with Midwestern, hometown charm.

Becky went shopping for her dress in her hometown, Alpena, Michigan. She went to Glitz and Glamour BridaI. She says, “ I tried on a handful of other dresses but had seen this dress in a magazine and knew I had to try it. My favorite part was that it has pockets! That pretty much sealed the deal for me. When I pulled my vow book out of my pocket during our ceremony, the entire crowd gasped, it was awesome!”

What we love

Since Becky and Andrew were married on May the Fourth, they wanted to add in some Star Wars highlights throughout the wedding. ”The reception table numbers featured various characters or iconic items from Star Wars. They were hand wood burned by my brother so that made them extra special.” Not only was it cute to play off the Star Wars theme, but having special items that a family member made makes your day all the more special.

Advice from the bride

Becky says, “Cherish every single moment. Take time to just step back and breathe and don’t allow yourself to get stressed about the little things. Everyone is there to celebrate the love between you and your new husband, don’t take that for granted.”
