"Emily and Erin are the most amazing and talented photographers you could ask for. I would choose them to photograph my wedding time and time again. their photos perfectly captured all the true beauty and emotion of the most important day of my life. Their chemistry as sisters is something you cannot find in most photographer partners, and it really shines in their work. They are both so kind and were so attentive throughout the entire wedding planning journey and the wedding weekend. Emily and Erin found the perfect photo spots, angles, lighting - everything you could ask for. I also couldn't believe how quickly Emily and Erin were able to share photos from our big day! I would recommend Hey Sisters to every bride. having them as my photographers was one of the best decisions I've made."

Please tell us a little more about your business.

"You could say our business started with a Craig's List ad. My sister Erin was studying photography and graphic design at Columbia College in Chicago nearly 10 years ago now, and thought, "Hey! I wonder if I'd like photographing weddings..." That's where Craig's List comes in. She placed an ad, curious if anyone might be willing to let her photograph their wedding for FREE. And she got a response from the sweetest couple who were willing to take a chance. She asked her big sis to come along, and I, of course, jumped at the opportunity! I was working at a small newspaper at the time and had recently purchased a digital camera to take photographs for the stories I was writing. The day of our very first wedding, we arrived at the cutest little chapel in Michigan to do something we had never done before and the adrenaline was immediately pumping! Needless to say, we were overwhelmed with the joy, happiness, and grace that this first couple showed us. Not to mention, we loved every second of photographing the most important day of this beautiful couple's lives! After that first wedding, we decided that we were going to give this a go. And for the next two years, we immersed ourselves in learning digital photography and everything that comes along with that! We are still learning, but we wouldn't be where we are now if it weren't for that first couple and the countless others who gave us a chance."

What sets you apart from others? Why should a bride choose you?

"We are always so humbled when someone chooses us to photograph their wedding. Somehow, among the countless other photographers that they could choose from, they chose us. And we are seriously honored every single time. We approach every wedding with one thing in mind...CHASE the moment. We like to be inconspicuous...capturing things that may seem insignificant, but later we learn were important moments—or—important details that might otherwise be overlooked. We photograph weddings with the idea that we're telling a couple's story. When they look back at their photographs 10, 15, 20 years down the road, we want them to remember exactly how they felt, and we hope to convey that through the photographs we get to take. And while most photographers have a second shooter along for the day, my sister and I both come into the day as equal partners. I trust her, and she trusts me, and we work together as a team. We also have so much fun!! My sister is the life of the party and can make anyone feel at ease and laugh! The big belly laughs! :) We are grateful that we get the opportunity to tell the story of two people's love. It's the greatest honor in the world."

Do you have anything else exciting that you would like to share?

"We recently were featured in WeddingDay, which was super exciting to us! One of our 2017 couples, Kris and Sara, were featured in the publication, and our first wedding of 2018, the wedding day of Alex and Gina, was featured on weddingday-online.com! We couldn't be happier to see these couples and their weddings featured! Not only were they beautiful weddings, these couples, their families and friends were absolutely WONDERFUL. We also work closely with Riley Children's Hospital for their Riley Champions campaigns, as well as local charities, to provide photography services for children and families. A few of those stories can be found on our website."

What inspires you as a wedding photographer?

"We are inspired by adventure! We both love nature, seeing new places, meeting new people...but, more so, we love moments—the ones that make you tear up just thinking about them. And on someone's wedding day, there are SO MANY of these moments. When we first meet with couples, we ask them their most anticipated moment of their big day. Their answers always make us smile and certainly inspire us! When we go into their wedding day, we have that anticipation in the back of our minds, and that fuels us as we get to live their big day with them."

What do you love most about photographing weddings?

"We love photographing love in its truest form. On a wedding day, two people are choosing to commit FOREVER to each other. That is HUGE, and what an amazing thing to be a witness to—and document! It's sincerely a privilege and an honor."
