Mod Romance

This modern, chic inspiration wedding was a collaboration between Cake Zen, Design Group, the Indiana State Museum and Molly Connor Photography. A creative group of Indianapolis wedding and event vendors came together to bring to life an inspired shoot that was contemporary and sophisticated while maintaining a touch of classic romance.

DETAILS & DECOR
The deliberate focus on texture over color lends itself to a glamorous feel that is both simple and chic. The tablescape, created by Design Group, accentuated the timelessness showcased in this space. The shiny silver candlesticks, pearl-accented place settings, oversized stemware and charcoal-gray textured linens created the perfect foundation for a stunning head table.  The bouquets of hydrangeas and Phalaenopsis orchids were just the right pairing of modern and classic.

THE INDIANA STATE MUSEUM
The Indiana State Museum provided the perfect setting for the day, with its clean aesthetic, open space and modern feel. Located in White River State Park, the venue boasts one of the most amazing views in the city.  The soaring 100-foot ceilings, unique architecture, and expansive wall of windows allowed for exactly the kind of beautiful design and natural light that complemented the classic look and feel of this collaboration.

MODELS & ATTIRE
While Demetri modeled a suit from his personal collection, Melissa modeled the “Kirsten” gown from the Steven Birnbaum Collection, which is part of the amazing collection of dresses that The Wedding Studio offers. Hair and make-up was provided by La Dolce Salon and helped tie together the couple’s sophisticated look.

FURNITURE
The furniture was chosen to create a big city glamorous ambience in a comfortable lounge-like setting. The museum lends itself to this clean look, featuring white leather lounge furniture from Wow Factors’ New Imagination line. These pieces are a collection of modular furniture that can be arranged and linked together to fit the style, space and design concept of any event.

PAPERIE
Pink Poppy Ink designed several elegant and modern printed pieces to illustrate more details of the day. The collection of invitations, escort cards, table numbers and bar signs each use a crisp slate color and an eclectic mixture of fonts to tie them all together.

CAKE
The centerpiece of the amazing dessert table is a three-tier wedding cake that was inspired by the architecture of the museum’s main atrium. Cake Zen designed the ideal confection for the modern bride and groom, featuring soft white fondant adorned with black and white stacked stripes, edible silver leaves and hand-molded sugar.
