It’s not hard to see what’s so alluring about exposed brick and wood floors these days. Especially when dressed up for a wedding, these unique and vintage elements pair with what’s elegant pretty perfectly. While many brides are drawn to this urban, vintage and modern style, so, too, are many talented creatives. While Melissa Mathis of Forever and A Day Events and Design is obsessed with old brick and wood, she is equally in love with teal and especially loved the idea of pairing it with gold. She chose to make these hues the focal point of her style shoot's palette at The Cheney Place–a perfect venue fit for her style. Melissa says,“I wanted something that was different yet elegant. The mixing of the metals with the chargers, flatware and terrariums was really the key to this geometric meets elegant style.”

For other eye-catching elements, Melissa turned to The Rental Company. Items we love include the farmhouse table, Gigi & LaClede teal goblets, metallic chargers, elegantly draped table runner and the terrariums–a hot trend right now. “This shoot wasn’t very traditional and it was a little dark,” Melissa says. “The color of the hellebore complemented the teal tapered candles and goblets perfectly. The tulips provided a whimsical feel but added the elegant element with the crisp, white color.”

The bride wore a gorgeous gown from Spring Sweet. Its unique two-piece style featured a textured skirt and elegant lace top. Melissa aimed at keeping the bride’s hair down and curly in lieu of a more intricate style, because the hairpiece had so much beautiful character and detail. The smoky browns and taupes in the makeup complemented the same rich hues in the overall tablescape design.

The lovely stationery suite, designed by Alisa Bobzien, was a suite that was already created and fit just perfectly with the style shoot’s theme. The Amy’s Cakes & More cake had a sweet and understated design. Its delicate texture and fresh flowers were a nod to the shoot’s simple elegance.
