Moody Meets Romance in This Outdoor Indiana Celebration: The Real Wedding of Hannah and Crescent Ulmer

Despite both living in and visiting similar places in Indianapolis, Hannah and Crescent didn't meet until they matched on a dating app. After dating for a while, Crescent decided to propose while they were on vacation in Maine. While he wanted to do it atop Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park during sunrise, he wasn't able to. They watched the sunrise from a lower altitude then hiked to the top of the mountain where he finally popped the question!

Take a look at that beautiful vintage dress Hannah is wearing! When she and her best friend visited her bridal shop, it only took them four minutes to find this gorgeous dress. "It’s ivory, lace, long-sleeve, open-back and has buttons all the way down the back," Hannah explains. We love the intricate lace details across the dress and think Hannah looks absolutely stunning on her big day!

Both Hannah and Crescent love state parks and the great outdoors, so they decided to include that in their wedding day. Though some might think it's crazy to get married outside in December in Indiana, Hannah and Crescent were happy to do it. Hannah raves, "We wanted an outdoor ceremony, and this venue had a brick outdoor shelter with a huge fireplace that we LOVED. We also loved the old brick park lodge for the reception and for our friends and family to gather and spend the wedding weekend together."

Knowing they wanted to have a winter wonderland wedding, Hannah and Crescent were able to plan the whole thing in four months with the help of friends and family (especially Hannah's mom). Taking a mix of inspiration from Twilight and winter, Hannah and Crescent began sharing vision boards and Google Docs filled with ideas back and forth with the people helping them plan the wedding. They settled on a moody yet romantic vibe with the colors cream, forest green and black.

What We Love

Instead of your standard wedding DJ, Hannah and Crescent opted for a jazz band as entertainment after their wedding. During the wedding, they also celebrated by jumping the broom. "This has many meanings, but for us it was stepping (jumping) into 'new beginnings' together," Hannah shares. "There is also Black history around jumping the broom, which we wanted to incorporate."

Advice from the couple

Hannah and Crescent advise, "Don’t listen to anyone! Do what YOU want and like! Accept help and support with planning and especially with the day of/day before. Have fun. Take mental photos, you don’t want to forget anything! Don’t drink too much (you want to remember)."
